6 Questions to Make Human Resource Planning Simple

Quarterly planning is critical to meeting individual and company goals. Every manager is responsible for finding, focusing and supporting the people that will help achieve their department’s goals.

The Human Resource Store offers 1-1 coaching with managers and supervisors to assist them in determining and clarifying their professional and departmental goals. Questions we ask you to consider are:

  1. What is working and not working for your department?
    Make a list of the positives and negatives and we can help you develop a plan that will strengthen the things that are good and turn the negatives into positives.
  2. Who are the outstanding performers in your department?
    Giving acknowledgement those who perform above your standards raises the bar for everyone and provides positive reinforcement for excellence.
  3. Which employee(s) are not meeting minimum performance standards?
    Make them aware of the problem. Provide them with the support they need. Consider if they would work better in another department. Determine if they need to be put on probation.
    Tolerating people whose cost exceeds their value is your #1 human resource cost item.
  4. Whom do you need to replace?
    If an employee, after repeated support, needs to leave for whatever reason we can help you provide them with a compassionate exit.
  5. What are your recruitment needs over the next 90 days?
    Take into consideration your departmental and company growth goals, as well as any replacement personnel requirements.
  6. What other Human Resource needs do you foresee in the next 90 days?
    This can include new training programs, implementing an orientation plan and making sure you're up-to-date with compliance issues, as well as instituting an innovative employee development and benefit programs to retain the outstanding performers you already have in place.

Our Professional Development Program (PDP) - The Professional Development Program is for managers to use to grow and promote those employees who have earned it, support and focus the employees who need more direction, and provide for the compassionate exit of those employees who need to leave for whatever reason.

FREE Quarterly Planning Session - We can have one of our HR Specialists meet with you for one FREE Quarterly Planning Session to provide 1-1 coaching to assist in clarifying your professional and departmental goals. We suggest you distribute it to both the manager and the employee before they "review each other " in the four areas outlined. The essential purpose of this sheet is to ensure that expectations are clear.
